This is an experienced position, located in beautiful Santa Rosa, CA (approximately 50 miles north of San Francisco), where you will be part of Agile teams working on full-stack development with teams in other geographies world-wide. As a Scrum Master you will be coaching the teams and organization on how to use Scrum practices and foster Agile values to further develop, maintain, and improve product offerings in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will lead the teams to higher levels of maturity and self-organization, at a sustainable pace that is appropriate to the teams and organization, and work with the hiring manager and other leaders to establish and manage Agile processes, tools, and metrics across the organization. Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate the delivery of high-quality software, including delivering product versions and releases
  • Coach the team to continually improve their transparency, predictability, and ability to collaborate
  • Run efficient sprint ceremonies
  • Work with the team to remove impediments and keep sprint scope changes minimal
  • Practice servant leadership in the organization
  • Identify opportunities to continuously optimize and improve
  • Foster an environment that enables learning and improving through team experiments
  • Use sprint metrics to help the team and organization plan future work
  • Support and collaborate with the Product Owner, especially with regards to backlog grooming and maintaining a healthy product backlog
  • Optimize team usage of tools (ex. JIRA, Confluence) and streamline team processes (ex. bug triage)
  • Provide communication and training for practices, processes and tools

Job Description

Job Qualifications

  • BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline with software emphasis
  • 3+ years of experience implementing Agile Scrum practices with teams (ex. Scrum Master)
  • Understanding of and experience applying Agile philosophies, Lean development principles, and common frameworks such as Scrum and/or Kanban
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Agile techniques such as User Stories, Test Driven Development, Behavior Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, etc
  • Strong knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and influence partners within and outside of the organization
  • Strong demonstrated understanding of group dynamics and coaching
  • Strong analytical ability; able to present data, solve problems, and come up with creative solutions
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proven ability to work across teams, pushing self and others to deliver results
  • Proficient in Agile lifecycle management tools
  • Great interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build strong relationships with team members fostering a repeatable development process
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, results driven environment
  • Passion for learning and professional growth
