Job Description

Protect and grow Keysight’s core business for Radar and EW Customers

This role requires energy and passion for solving challenging customer measurement applications related to the development and testing of modern complex radar and electronic counter-measure systems (“EW”), as well as classic and new exciting space and satellite communications programs.  You will be a member of high performance team of Pyramid Leads, AEs and BDEs, and Solution Marketing experts focused on our largest and most important Aerospace/Defense (A/D) customers, working with people in the field and “factory” in a proactive and highly collaborative manner using a strong set of technical application and communication skills. You will be working directly with Customers, Keysight FEs and field AEs supporting them, Solution Specialists and colleagues ADGS and CoEs as well as other businesses (ISG, SSG).  You will be responsible for understanding our customer’s software requirements and then recommending, working with R&D organizations to develop, or creating proof-of-concept software to satisfy those requirements.

Key roles and responsibilities

Keysight is looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a working knowledge of RF design to collaborate with some of Keysight’s largest defense customers.  The person hired will become part of the Aerospace Defense Government Solutions team (ADGS) working on cutting-edge areas of defense development.  The primary focus of the individual will be interacting with customers to define, and at times help implement, test strategies around software design.  As part of the ADGS team, the person will collaborate with hardware experts and other Keysight organizations to help determine a viable approach for heterogeneous systems and assist customers to understand how to leverage solutions by Keysight.  This role will require a unique blend of customer facing activity, being part of a strategy planning organization and still require some hands-on work to be done.  This has the potential to be an exciting position for a candidate looking to breakout of the traditional R&D lab environment or grow their strong software experiences into broader set of business activity and strategy & planning duties. 

 

  • Programming expertise to architect and implement real-time software applications. 
  • Discussing “custom” capability based on Keysight’s existing software, assist customer with software development when deemed the right use of this key resources time. 
  • Conduct training, or part of a delivery team, for customers using Keysight systems leveraging Software resources/framework. Training could be internal or external training. Generate necessary support materials (specs/packets/one-pagers) and create documentation necessary for the integration of Keysight solution elements into a customer’s application.
  • Interact with aerospace/defense customers to define and integrate Keysight’s solutions into their larger A/D systems.  Must be able to converse at the component level (e.g. DAC, ADC, RF-front end, etc.) up through overall system capabilities 
  • Act as a liaison between customers and R&D teams in Keysight. Provide support for questions from customers as they implement solutions from Keysight into their application.
  • Support the needs Keysight Global Sales (KGS) to build customer confidence in ADGS solutions.
  • Coordinate with other teams within Keysight to leverage technology and resource investments across the company

Job Qualifications

Tactical job duties:

  • Develop new applications that can be addressed with our instrument and SW products: develop applications examples, demonstration procedures, and related tools to facilitate the effective demonstration by field AEs and ultimately successful evaluation by customers. 
  • Your new software applications and demonstrations will be leveraged by solution marketing to educate our field and customers on our latest capability.
  • Develop technical training content for S800 (annual deep training for field AEs and Solution Specialists).
  • Represent the voice of the customer back into Product (CoE) and Solution (IST) Planning teams. Provide timely feedback on new features and capabilities as a result of customer engagements.

Experience and Skills required:

  • Strongly prefer experience with developing real-time software applications on RTOS and/or CUDA or other parallel computing platforms.
  • Greater than 2 years-experience designing and implementing Software Applications
  • Greater than 2 years-experience with RF or high-speed digital design experience in digital signal processing-based applications
  • Experience with C++/C#, Python, CUDA, preferred.
  •  Be very familiar with CSG products and solutions, especially focused on RF/uW SAs, SGs, VNAs and High-Speed Digital Oscilloscopes/wideband Digitizer and AWG products. Peaked knowledge in at least one of the above classes of instrumentation.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time, and internationally at times.
