Job Description

The Systems Engineer will be a key team member in the Ixia West Enterprise Sales team. This position will work closely with the assigned Regional Sales Manager by assisting with pre-sales opportunities by providing technical leadership and support. The successful candidate will be a skilled engineer that is able to assess customer needs and facilitate solutions unique to their business. Preferred Location: Southern California

  • Must be hungry to over achieve goal, provide high level of communication, impeccable follow up, excellent coordination, and outstanding teamwork to achieve team quota goals for the territory.
  • Effectively work as a team with the Regional Sales Manager to architect the solution (create Bill of Materials and Visio Drawings) and ensure that it leverages Keysight ISG feature sets and fits into the overall customer architecture and aligns with their business requirements to win opportunities. Experience using Challenger Sales Model a huge plus!
  • Drive effective product and solution demos for customers as needed.
  • Conduct and successfully complete Proof of Concept (POC) efforts while engaging customers, channel and tech partners, while managing demo gear to and from the customer.
  • Assisting channel partners to identify, qualify and close pre-sales opportunities. 
  • Providing technical thought leadership and working closely with the Regional Sales Manager to coordinate efforts between partners, customer and internal teams (Product Management, Support, and Engineering).Ability to lead network architecture, security, and cloud discussion and solution design.
  • Proactively and effectively identify customer needs, understand business issues and drivers behind specific requests.
  • Responding timely to technical pre-sales inquiries, requests for information, requests for proposals
  • Delivering training for channel partners and customers as needed.
  • Experience working with channel and technical partners preferred. 
  • Recognized as technical point of contact and technology/market expert by customer


Job Qualifications
  • 10 years’ experience in a Pre-Sales Engineering role preferred. 
  • Proficiency with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and TCP/IP Internetworking.
  • Understanding of virtualization platforms such as VMware and OpenStack.  
  • Working knowledge of public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google).
  • Understanding of network visibility i.e. concepts and architectures of packet brokers, tap/aggregation, and inline network security.
  • Familiarity with APM/NPM systems and network analyzers.
  • Knowledge of SSL encryption and decryption.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Systems Security
    • Network Security
    • Cloud Security
  • API and/or scripting experience a plus.
